Today is the first day of winter, and the shortest daylight hours day for the season. I enjoy watching the beautiful snow blanketing the earth during the winter; it is so breathtaking beautiful when small amounts of ice cling to the branches of the trees and there is enough snow cover so that no grass is peeking through. Having said that, I have to say that I’m glad that I work at home and don’t have to travel in bad weather and can just enjoy the beauty of the snow through my window, or put on my cross country skis and go skiing right outside my door. I truly do love the life up here, and the distinct four seasons that I can enjoy so many different types of outdoor activities!
Well, I guess the guy’s not made out of Teflon after all - he finally got jail time for one of his crimes! I was never convinced of his innocence in the murder of his wife - I thought that case was badly bungled. So I have to say that I was pleased that he finally got jail time for SOMETHING! I hope they don’t put him in one of those prisons that are really “cushy” prisons, and that he actually does some real soul-searching while he is in there.
I was reading on the Time.com website that scientists have discovered an area in Utah where there is a concentration of dinosaur footprints (and possibly tail drag marks) that are so closely concentrated together that they have decided to call it a “dinosaur dance floor.” The theory is that the area was an oasis in a desert so many dinosaurs went there for water. The scientists say that many of the footprints were originally thought to be simply “potholes” but were recently discovered to have toe and heel prints. The site is along the Arizona-Utah border, in a protected wilderness area. Good thing it’s in a protected wilderness area! They should have plenty of time to research that area without worrying about commercialism paving it over!
As can be expected, anytime the economy is reaching the depths that this economy is fast approaching, there will be an increase in crime. People who would not normally even think about stealing things are going to become desperate for their necessities, simply because they have lost their jobs and can’t find another one. Many companies have been downsizing, and many companies that hire seasonal employees have decided against hiring seasonal employees this year. So money is very tight, and likely to get tighter.
My brother has become concerned about the increase of crime in the business district that the family store is located in. I told him that he should go to the ITPlanet website and buy a digital security camera or two and hook them up to increase the security there. The ITPlanet website has a huge assortment of security options that can help any residence or business to use the latest technology to increase security.
I’ve been reading a few articles lately about how one of the things that is going to “save” the planet, and the economy, is “green jobs.” “Green jobs” are jobs that are jobs related to work that is going to have a positive impact on our environment. Yet none of the articles are specific as to exactly WHAT those green jobs are going to be - they are very vague.
The last article that I read indicated that they don’t have to be manual labor jobs, but “green collar jobs” are being considered manual labor jobs. And the article indicated that people would be making at least $15 an hour to start. Well, that’s not the BEST money in the world, but it is pretty good starting pay for someone who is just starting out, so I’d like more information on that! It would be really nice if we could start to see more information about these “green jobs” and how people might get “into” a “green job” whether it is manual labor or otherwise.
