I was surprised to see in this morning’s news (online) that the Augusta Mainefire department had to respond to an early morning fire of a porta potty. Obviously arson, the fire was under control in ten minutes. The police say that they are unlikely to be able to find a suspect in the case.
I have to wonder just how big a moron does one have to be to light a porta potty on fire? I don’t know much about porta potties, I don’t know if the chemicals they use in it are supposed to reduce the risk of fire or if they are highly flammable. I wonder if the person who set the fire set it on purpose as a stupid prank, or if it was just a stupid idiot who decided to have a smoke while in there and threw his lit cigarette in the tank instead of smashing it out on the ground.

This is fast becoming a concern for many of us porta potty rental services…this is about the 5th or 6th plastic restroom arson report I’ve seen in the last month…these facilities can sometimes run a thousand dollars brand new…

BTW, I often see vandals have tipped porta potties on their sides, too. There’s no need of that!
